Sam Icklan

Sam Icklan is the Director of Community Nutrition Services at Project Bread, leading on programming that provides professional development training and culinary support to school food service professionals to increase the quality of school meals. Sam has over 20 years of food service experience, including restaurants, grade schools, colleges and summer camps and began cooking exclusively for children and young adults in 2010. Based in Western Mass, Sam has worked with students and school nutrition professionals in school districts across the Commonwealth. Sam holds an MS in Food Systems and a professional certificate in Sustainable Food Systems Leadership from the University of Vermont.  

Mellissa Honeywood

Mellissa Honeywood, RDN, is the Food Service Director for Cambridge Public Schools. Mellissa delights in the privilege of serving the students of Cambridge wholesome meals so they are well nourished and ready to get the most from their education every day. She has worked to diversify the lunch menu since 2012.

Catalina López-Ospina

Catalina López-Ospina is the Vice President of Engagement at Project Bread. She has more than a decade of experience working to remove barriers to food access. Prior to her position at Project Bread, where she is responsible for developing programmatic and policy priorities to address food insecurity, she worked at the Boston Public Health Commission’s Serving Our Selves Farm and most recently she was the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Food Access within the City of Boston.

The Advisory Committee provides strategic guidance and contributes to decisions that shape the MFTS organization. Serving two-year terms, they are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission. We could not do what we do without the help of the Advisory Board, so join us in expressing gratitude for our new and returning members!
