This event took place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Please scroll down to watch a recording.
Presenter: Eliza Lawrence, School Garden Coordinator, Regional Environmental Council
Where does our food come from? What kinds of foods grow in Massachusetts? This workshop will explore ways to engage young students though a mini-mobile farmers market. Come to this workshop to learn how to implement the REC’s mini-market program, an interactive farmers market activity designed for Early Childhood to Elementary students. Participants will learn how to design an onsite farmers market in a classroom environment and how to incorporate other activities, such as a story book reading and garden planting. This presentation will cover logistics for offering this type of programming at schools, considerations for local food sourcing, curriculum alignment by age group, and how to scale up or down depending on how many students you wish to engage.
