Are you an educator? Do you work with students in or out of a school setting? Help them advocate for Farm to School in their communities by encouraging them to fill out a Farm to School Student Advocacy Form! Students of any age range can participate by writing or drawing their responses.
The Massachusetts Food for Massachusetts Kids Coalition needs your help! The Coalition, co-lead by FoodCorps Massachusetts and Massachusetts Farm to School, is hoping to celebrate Massachusetts Farm to School Month (October) by demonstrating to legislators the impact of farm to school programs on students. MA Food for MA Kids is working to create a permanent farm to school grant program in Massachusetts. This program will provide schools with the critical funds they need to offer students experiential food education and nourishing school meals that feature local foods.
State legislators need to hear from their constituents (including students!) about why these programs are so important. You can educate legislators by collecting your students’ stories and sharing them back with us through a simple card we have developed. Work with students in your classes to fill out the cards.
Send the forms back to us and we’ll deliver them to Massachusetts legislators from your community. Send forms to Mass. Farm to School, P.O. Box 213, Beverly, MA 01915 or scan and email dena@massfarmtoschool.org).
